Balanced Physical Activity Program

“Forever Moving” with Lizza McIntosh

Caregiver helping senior woman with weight lifting program

We at Connecting Hearts realize the importance of a balanced physical activity program for our seniors. That is why we’ve partnered with certified personal trainer and licensed physical therapist, Lizza McIntosh, to develop a program of exercise for seniors.

As we age, our muscle mass begins to decrease. Muscle strength is an essential contributor to our balance and bone strength. There are many people who assume that with aging comes a reduced need for physical activity, but this is a false assumption.

Lack of exercise is the problem, not age

According to the National Institute for Aging, exercise is good for people of any age. Weakness and poor balance are linked to inactivity, rather than age.

A body at rest remains at rest. Our seniors cannot afford not to get moving. It’s about adding more movement and activity to their lives–even in small ways. If your loved one is house bound, there are many easy ways to get them moving and improve their health.

Our caregivers are professionally trained by Lizza to assist their adult senior in any fitness activities recommended as a part of our Balanced Care Program.

Balanced Physical Activity Programs can include:

Balance Exercises

Coordination Exercises

Our Fitness Plans for Seniors

Part of our balanced approach is our physical activity program. We want our seniors to have the opportunity to maintain their strength and balance while living at home. If a family would like additional assistance, they can choose from our 2 options listed below.

OPTION 1: Basic Daily Exercise Program

(Exercise program designed by Lizza McIntosh)

This easy plan helps seniors maintain mobility, strength and confidence. Seniors who have no exercise program in the home and/or are beginning to have falls will see the benefits from a Basic Daily Exercise Program.
